Overview
This single-bolt cam is a strong street upgrade for classic Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth big block builds where better throttle response, a harder pulling mid-range and a noticeable performance idle are wanted without going too large for regular road use. With 218/224 duration at .050", .462"/.470" valve lift and a 1300-5600 rpm operating range, it is well suited to mildly modified 383, 400, 413, 426 wedge and 440 engines in cruisers, weekend cars and street-driven restorations.
The Xtreme Energy lobe design is aimed at improving cylinder pressure and response compared with older-style cam profiles, making it a good choice for engines with upgraded intake, exhaust and ignition while still remaining practical for a stock converter in many combinations. Sensible rear gearing, such as 3.23:1 or similar, will help make the most of the cam’s operating range.
As this is a hydraulic flat tappet camshaft, correct matching lifters, suitable valve springs, quality break-in oil/additive and proper run-in procedure are essential for reliable service. Always check piston-to-valve clearance, spring pressures and overall valvetrain compatibility during installation.
