Bill Shaw had since left his position at Clark Chrysler, Australia’s largest
dealership, armed with experience and backed by a natural talent for all things
mechanical.
Having already completed his time as a motor mechanic, Bill owned an exclusive
Paint & Panel and Engine Building shop catering for only premium clientele.
He specialized in a unique “metal flake” spray painting technique and the
building of hi-performance Hemi 6 engines… With that said, Bill had no need to
explore any other business ventures.
But as all great things, Hemi Performance was born in passion, Bill’s
passion.
With a love for owning and driving beautiful and powerful cars, his passion for
Chryslers drove him to continue his involvement with all things Chrysler.
Within the street drag racing scene in Melbourne, engines built by Bill were
feared by many a V8 powered Ford or Chev owner and one fateful day a small
comment by a customer sparked what would become the best thing that has ever
happened for Chryslers’ in this country.
“With engines like that, you should call yourself HEMI PERFORMANCE!” he
commented. |
And so began the wild roller coaster ride known as Hemi Performance.
Over the years HP has thrived and HP has also been on life support, but through
it all Bill has never put down the mantel he picked up when he choose to commit
business suicide and dedicate his life to the preservation of Chryslers’ in this
country.
Now over 30 years have passed, and the continuous efforts by Bill have seen
countless products produced, reproduced or just simply saved from a slow death
rusting away in some landfill. Many people are blissfully unaware of the huge
