Overview
These pistons offer enhanced strength and durability due to their construction from high-silicon 390 hypereutectic alloy, which provides superior scuff resistance and reduced thermal expansion. Coated skirts help reduce friction and wear, contributing to longer engine life.
Product Features:
- High-strength 390 hypereutectic alloy construction for improved durability and reduced thermal expansion
- Coated skirts to minimize friction and extend engine longevity
- Recessed head design (0.070" deep x 3.140" diameter) with 8.0:1 to 8.4:1 compression ratio
- Press-fit pin diameter of 0.9842 inches
- Bore size 4.080" (0.080 oversize), suitable for Chrysler/Dodge 360ci V8 engines
- Compatible with standard piston ring sizes: 5/64" top, 5/64" second, 3/16" oil ring
- Set of eight pistons, rings not included
More About Silv-O-Lite:
For 100 years Silv-O-Lite has produced high quality OE replacement pistons for engine rebuilding. Each part of the manufacturing process is done in house, including alloying the aluminum, casting, heat treating, diamond machining, and a full array of anodizing and coatings for the piston crowns, ring grooves, and skirts.
Silv-O-Lite's unique diamond finishing process holds the piston stationary while spinning the cutting tool around the perimeter of the piston. In one simultaneous action ellipse, taper, & barrel are cut to give you the most consistent skirt finish in the industry.
Silvolite’s hypereutectic pistons use an alloy containing 15 - 16% silicon. In addition to greater strength, scuff and seizure resistance, the hypereutectic will improve groove wear and resist cracking in the crown area where operating temperatures are severe.
IMPORTANT: Hypereutectic aluminum has 15% less thermal expansion than conventional piston alloys. When using Hypereutectic pistons Silv-o-Lite recommends 40% increase in listed top ring end gap.
This piston is coated with an anti-friction dry lubricant. Pistons that have dry film lubricant applied to the skirts are approximately .001 larger in diameter than uncoated pistons. To prevent piston failure, follow the “Recommended Finished Bore Diameter” on the label.
